Food Facility Re-registration Period Opens Oct. 1
Food facilities required to register with the Food and Drug Administration must renew their registrations between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31. Food being imported or offered for import into the U.S. from a foreign facility for which registration has not been submitted or renewed must be held at the port of entry for and may not be delivered to the importer, owner, or consignee until the foreign facility is registered
In a press release issued on September 17, 2018, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced the final third list of tariff items on goods from China (“List 3”) to become subject to additional duties under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974. Of the 6,031 tariff lines that were originally proposed on July 10th to become subject to the additional duties, 5,745 full or partial tariff lines remain on the final list.

This is to inform that U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer released on Tuesday statements regarding action under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974. He stated that as a result of China’s retaliation and failure to change its practices, the President ordered USTR to begin the process of imposing tariffs of 10 percent ad valorem on an additional $200 billion of Chinese imports. He stated this is an appropriate response under the authority of Section 301 to obtain the elimination of China’s harmful industrial policies

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) released a list of products imported from China that will be subject to additional tariffs as part of the U.S. response to China’s unfair trade practices related to the forced transfer of American technology and intellectual property.
INCREASED DUTIES ON CERTAIN U.S. (AND OTHER) ORIGIN PRODUCTS
Today, Mexico published in the Diario Oficial (Mexico's equivalent to the U.S. Federal Register), its retaliatory measures in response to the U.S. decision last week to impose Sec. 232 duties on Mexican origin steel and aluminum. Importantly, the new Mexican duties do NOT apply to IMMEX (maquiladora) transactions - only to "definitive" imports (akin to "consumption entries" in the United States).
