United States – Mexico – Canada Agreement (USMCA)

Dear Customers and Friends,

The United States - Mexico - Canada Agreement (USMCA) new trilateral trade pact,  was finally announced and is expected to be signed by December 1st 2018. The new agreement must be ratified by Congress early 2019.

Here are some of the main highlights of this new trade pact:

  • A 16 year Sunset Clause which may be extended or renegotiated.
  • Preservation of Chapter 19 for conflict and dispute resolutions
  • Increase of Regional Content from 62.5% to 75% for Autos
  • Greater Access to the Canadian Dairy Industry
  • Stronger labor protection, and protection to Intellectual Property
  • Section 232 of the Steel and Aluminum Additional Tariifs,  will remain as an independent and broader topic for now, and will not be resolved under USMCA.

Tariff schedules and publications on below link are still subject to legal review and verification by the Parties.
