Section 301 Began Process to Impose 10 percent Tariffs on additional Chinese Imports

Dear Friends and Customers:

This is to inform that U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer released on Tuesday statements regarding action under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974. He stated that as a result of China’s retaliation and failure to change its practices, the President ordered USTR to begin the process of imposing tariffs of 10 percent ad valorem on an additional $200 billion of Chinese imports. He stated this is an appropriate response under the authority of Section 301 to obtain the elimination of China’s harmful industrial policies

There will be a comprehensive public notice and comment process prior to the imposition of final tariffs, as for previous tariffs.

The current list contains 6031 items under different classifications that will potentially have this additional 10% ad valorem duty.   Attached please find the excel list for your convenience.

The proposed list and process for the public notice and comment period is set out in a Federal Register notice.  To view the notice, including the list of proposed tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese imports, and important dates to have your voice heard on this two-month process, please click on below link.
