Calexico/Mexicali CBP/SAT Working Group October 16 2014 Summary

A brief summary of last CBP/SAT meeting held on Thursday October 16th, 2014 at Calexico, C.A.

To all our customers and friends,

Below please find a brief summary of yesterdays CBP/SAT Meeting.

We encourage you to participate since you may share any challenge or situation affecting your Imports and/or Exports.

Meetings are scheduled every 3 months and are held typically  the 3rd Thursday of that month from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Next meeting has been tentatively scheduled for January 15th. We will notify you in advance once the date is confirmed.

1) Exportation of Vehicles into Mexico. Starting October 2014, all vehicles regardless of their value should include a Shipper EEI in their documentation. Also, a second lane will be available for the exportation of these vehicles. Please remember to reach Customs by 11:45 AM, since no vehicle is permitted after 12:00 PM.


2)Transition to ACE. Starting May 1st, 2015, it will be mandatory that all transmission for Importation and Exportation are made through the ACE. We encourage you to call your Service provider for additional information on this transition. We also recommend opening an ACE account for your Company. Officer Avila is in charge of this Project, you may contact him for any additional information during his office hours: Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (Handout attached).


3)Agriculture. There has been an administration change in the Agriculture Department, Officer Coronel is now the current Supervisor in the Department, Monday to Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Chief Solórzano remains supporting Monday thru Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.


4) New U.S. Consulate guidelines on Border Crossing Card renewal for FAST members Expired visas will no longer be renewed. Visa Renovation process can be done 6 months or a year prior to expiration. The process may last approximately 30 days but it may take longer. Please consider this since an expired card may not be renewed. (Handout attached).


5)State Route 7 Pavement Rehabilitation Project. A rehabilitation Project for State Route 7 will initiate in November 2014. This will affect the commercial lanes from North to South. The Project will last approximately 9 months, yet no adjustments on schedules have been made.


6)Installation of two additional pedestrian work stations at Calexico West has been made for use  during peak traffic periods.
